Amidst the growing abundance of good vegetarian cookbooks, fresh perspective is valuable. From Mark Diacon0, a British writer whose books often focus on flavor, comes a book that very appealingly offers ideas which we, at least, have not seen before.

For example:

  • Feta, radish and rhubarb with fresh herbs, stuffed in a pita

  • Jerusalem artichokes, Brussel sprouts, blue cheese, and walnuts

  • Roast carrots, parsnips and, plums

  • Celeriac and charred shallots with pappardelle

  • Nutmeg baked potatoes with boozy potatoes

  • Eggplant with chocolate and coconut milk

There are also some attractive renditions of more familiar dishes, such as a summery minestrone fortified with pistou and a tarte tatin in which beets take the place of apples.

In all, rather invigorating to browse.
