It was our pleasure to meet the gracious Saroj Joshi, the author of this award-winning self-published book, who travelled from Mumbai to introduce us to it. Half the recipes are traditional Indian vegetarian dishes, all of them easily prepared and drawn from many regions of the country.
The others reflect growing Indian interest in food from the wider world, with chapters on Mexican, Italian, and Chinese dishes, as well as a “Continental” section which seems to reflect inspired Indian reinventions (e.g. savory waffles with spinach, ginger, and chile). You’ll also find a cluster of refreshing drinks, as well as desserts that also range from traditional to international.
