The Italian Deli Cookbook: 100 Glorious Recipes Celebrating the Best of Italian Ingredients

While “Italian deli” may conjure some very specific images for Americans, this UK-originated book does not conform. Theo Randall, a former chef at the London River Cafe, is celebrating pantry staples from Italian groceries with recipes that do not necessarily have a strong connection to the prepared foods one might expect to find in glass cases in the States.
That said, there are some very attractive dishes here: chickpeas with braised summer vegetables; tuna carpaccio with fennel and lemon; sausage and radicchio risotto.
We should also note, however, for those who do not enjoy squinting, that the book’s type is small and slender, and printed in grey rather than black. A curious design choice.
Hardcover. Color photographs throughout.
