The Angel: Volume 1

Written and edited by Emily Wilson, based on her Substack newsletter of the same name, The Angel collects Wilson's best stories on the Los Angeles food scene.  Handsome photography by David Gurzhiev complements Wilson's writing on a range of places and people.

If you know Los Angeles better than we do—and many people do—you might quibble with the articles we call out as interesting, but we're New Yorkers so we're used to other people thinking they know better than we do. But among the pieces that caught our eye:
