A tour of Tel Aviv's restaurants, chefs, and culinary figures, guided by an expat restaurateur and her sons.

Born in Tel Aviv, Haya Molcho spent most of her life on the move, following her husband around Europe for his work and raising 4 sons. Eventually, she put down some roots in Vienna where she opened the first of many NENI restaurants, named for her sons' initials. The food she celebrates here captures a host of influences, some ancient and some modern. Lines between cultures sometimes blur, and the food is certainly not all kosher.

There is however, an emphasis on flavor: avocado sandwiches with pickled carrots; curried paneer with prunes; crab burekas; pineapple carpaccio with coconut ice cream. And throughout there are profiles of chefs, cooks, fishermen, spice vendors, food bloggers, and others who are an integral part of the city's culinary identity.

Hardcover. Color photographs throughout.
