"This sophisticated but friendly collection of pastry recipes comes from the James Beard Award-winning chef-owner of Flour, a beloved Boston pastry shop.
In truth, with the inclusion of baked goods such as English muffins, challah, and drop biscuits, it's not strictly a pastry book. But given Joanne Chang's reputation as a baker of all skills, we're not complaining. The recipe collection feels familiar on one hand—scones, cookies, fruit pies, cakes, bread pudding—but on the other, Chang's thoughtful introduction of flavor or ingredient twists also makes the book feel fresh and contemporary.
