Contact Editions, Sausalito, California, 1961. Hardcover. Fine in Fair slipcase. First printing.

There is no resisting the opportunity to snoop on the culinary excursions of the creative set—those we already admire for the acuity of their perception, their inventiveness, and their sense of adventure.

This elegant 1961 book, with a foreword by Alice B. Toklas, draws on the contributions of some of the greatest figures of the 20th century creative elite. The list of participants includes Man Ray, Richard Olney (who was, after all, a painter), Isak Dinesen, William Styron, John Keats, Matsumi Kanemitsu, Marcel Duchamp, Upton Sinclair, Harper Lee, Pearl S. Buck, Georges Simenon, Marianne Moore, Paul Bowles, and many, many more.

Exquisitely designed, filled with whimsical old engravings, typographical elegance, and some very good writing, this a prize to own. Our copy is the first printing in Fine condition, clean and crisp. It comes in a slipcase, which is intact but perhaps not for long.
