St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church, Cleveland, 1957. Comb bound. Very Good.

Meat- and rice-stuffed green peppers, veal tongue with black olives, meatball and sauerkraut soup, Lenten mushroom stew, and cherry pudding squares, among so many others, are presented here by the youths of St Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church.

These children of immigrants preserve their parents’ recipes, not as a definitive, traditional Romanian cuisine but rather as the natural amalgamation of many cultural influences. There are Moldovan rolls, crepes Suzette, Macedonian pastry, and chicken à la king, but each recipe is identified both in English and Romanian, signaling a welcome adaptation, rather than assimilation.

Our copy is in excellent condition, clean and unmarked. The paper covers bear minor rubbing and wear, and the comb is intact.
