Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, New York, 1987. Hardcover. Near Fine.
The proceeds from this cookbook, assembled by New York City’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University, fittingly, benefited medical research. With such a prestigious institution behind it, I Must Have That Recipe (1987) attracted contributions beyond the student body, drawing from restaurants, spas, businesses, and celebrities.
Despite the diversity of sources, the recipes are all kosher friendly, and appeal to a broad spectrum. The English muffin pizzas and butter cookies are most reminiscent of late night, college delicacies; however, a more sophisticated melange—South African bobotie, a meat and egg casserole; tuna kebabs; rack of lamb; baklava—accounts for the majority.
There are no headnotes, but many recipes come with their own superlative—Not for nibblers only!; This is sensational!; Elegant to serve, delicious to taste; Thick and delicious!—which adds a hint of charm and guidance.
Ours is a Near Fine copy, issued in hardcover without a jacket.
