Published twice a year, Nez explores the world via our sense of smell. It provides an insight into the vital role that olfactory sensations play in our lives. This novel approach encompasses art, literature, science, history, food, and perfume. While a large proportion of each issue is given over to fragrance and perfumery, the relationship between scent and taste is inescapably part of the magazine.
"The Smell of the Future" is the theme of this issue, which celebrates the magazine's tenth anniversary. Along with explorations of the evolution of manufacturing and marketing techniques in the fragrance business, it offers two explorations of the aroma of coffee, including how professionals are trained to recognize its constituents.
There's also a piece on olfactory digitization ("Imagine breathing in the aromas of an Istanbul market on Instagram, or flipping through scented family photo albums on replay). And thoughtful cooks will see the resonance in an admittedly fragrance-driven article which begins by asking "How can we document and pass on what is, by its very nature, fleeting and everchanging?"
