This is an ambitious baking book written for kids in the 8-12 years age range, although it offers some recipes with enough challenge that older kids could find it useful as well.
The 100 recipes are ranked according to three levels of skill. Some are contributed by contestants from different seasons and others have been developed specifically for this book, including a number of master recipes such as those for cream biscuits, macarons, sweet yeast dough, and ganache. Kids can choose from simple classics, such a jammy thumbprint cookies or chocolate pudding, or try their hand at more adventurous flavors and techniques, such as what's needed to create a towering croquembouche, cinnamon-sugar sticky buns, or even macarons.
Throughout the book there are photographs of the show's contestants and judges, as well as the finished goodies and the occasional series of process shots illustrating a technique. This is a book that takes a kid's interest in baking seriously.
