Rather than a rigorous and systematic examination of Ligurian food, this is an impressionistic portrait, illustrated with photographs of shorelines and market squares, fishing boats and artisans. There are photographs of each of the 24 recipes, which range from focaccia Genovese and fritto misto to gnocchi with olives and scampi and lemon risotto.
