Targeted at teen cooks, this is a friendly and appealing collection of 30 classic French recipes printed in both English and French. It's an encouraging book that supports the budding cook as well as the language student.
Author Claudine Pépin is Jacques Pépin's daughter, her father's cohort in several of his popular PBS television shows, and a former instructor at The French Culinary Institute. Her clearly written recipes present a range of recipes that would be at home in a typical French kitchen: gougères; roast chicken with herbs of Provence (poulet rôti aux herbes de Provence); crème brûlée. There's also a small set of seasonal menus to help connect young American cooks with the French respect for seasonal food.
