Istanbul & Beyond: Exploring the Diverse Cuisines of Turkey

The cuisine of Turkey has ancient roots greatly influenced by physical and cultural geography and climate; arguably, not easily confined to a strict definition of a singular cuisine. Robyn Eckhardt and photographer husband David Hagerman spent many years making regular pilgrimages to the region, becoming more familiar and confident along the way. As the title suggests, their journey is rooted in Istanbul – the historic seat of the Ottoman Empire – and expands from there.
This is a book of personal stories of those they met along the way, told through homey dishes and beautiful photography. Recipes are categorized by place as well as by place in a meal and type of ingredient. Several more complicated recipes include process shots, and most include helpful notes regarding potentially unfamiliar ingredients or instructions.
Color photographs throughout. Hardcover.
