Kids who have loved Pretend Soup and Salad People will happily graduate to this third book in the classic set of children's cookbooks.
Although Mollie Katzen's illustrations appear throughout Honest Pretzels, its recipe format assumes stronger reading skills than the earlier books in the series, as you can see in the accompanying illustrations. The recipes, too, are more involved and assume that kids have more patience and attention to detail. This allows them to create the likes of gingerbread French toast, tomato soup with crispy croutons, and even lasagna.
There are also recipes for basic dinner rolls, a made-in-the-pan chocolate cake, and an icy strawberry slush for the hot early days of summer. As with all of Mollie Katzen's books, the recipes are vegetarian.
Color illustrations throughout. Paperback.
