Unapologetically interested in offal, and demonstrably nostalgic for the heyday of irreverently zines, Guts! debuts with 72, 8” x 10.75” innard-packed pages.

Printed in Ljubljana, Slovenia and with articles from authors writing about Argentina, Denmark, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Portugal,  Puerto Rico, Scotland, Spain, Wales, the good ole USA,  and elsewhere, it firmly establishes that passions for organ meats are widespread—if admittedly not universal.

There’s nothing delicate about Guts! but its contributors write well and with a wide frame of reference. You’ll be halfway down the first inside page and will have encountered commentary from Vertamae Smart-Grosvenor, Fergus Henderson, and William Strunk and E.B. White. We don’t recognize all the authors, but we’ll tip our hat to Millicent Souris and to Alicia Kennedy, who is interviewed on page 25. (“If you think it odd to include a Q&A with someone who wrote a history of plant-based foods in an offal focused magazine, then you are reading this magazine all wrong,” says editor Jake Mike Boy.)

We could tell you all the offal content herein, but subject and format will be enough to make things clear for 99% of people who could possibly be interested in Guts!. We want to see this new effort succeed.

Paperback. Black-and-white photographs and line illustrations.
