Event: Where the World Eats: Food Markets in NYC and Beyond

Regular price $15.00

Thursday, August 13 at 111 Broadway in the Financial District.

Doors open 6:00 | Talk 6:30-7:30 | Book Signing 7:30-8:00 pm

From the bustling wholesale markets that sustain cities to the vibrant night markets that bring communities together, food markets are places where commerce, culture, and everyday life converge. They preserve culinary traditions, introduce new flavors, and reveal the stories of migration, entrepreneurship, and exchange that shape how we eat.

Join moderator Nathan Thornburgh, co-founder of Roads & Kingdoms, for a conversation with photographer and author Jeff Fierberg, creator of the visually stunning Markets, and John Wang, founder of the Queens Night Market. Together they'll explore the enduring appeal of food markets in New York City and around the world—what they tell us about the places they inhabit, the people who gather there, and why these lively spaces remain among the most compelling windows into a city's culture. From historic public markets to contemporary night markets, this conversation celebrates the sights, flavors, and communities that make markets the beating heart of food culture.

A book signing will follow the conversation.
