Event: Summer in the City: Hot Takes & Cool Treats

Regular price $15.00

Wednesday, August 20 at 111 Broadway in the Financial District.

Doors open 6:00 | Talk 6:30-7:30 | Book Signing 7:30-8:00 pm

There's a particular magic to summer in New York: the first ice cream cone that melts faster than you can eat it, an impromptu cookout in the park, rooftop dinners that stretch long after sunset, and the foods that become inseparable from the season itself. In this lively conversation, cookbook authors Fany Gerson, Nicholas Morgenstern, and Farideh Sadeghin celebrate the flavors, rituals, and pleasures that define summer in the city.

Together, they'll reflect on the foods and rituals that define summer, exploring everything from ice cream and hot dogs to the simple pleasures of cooking for friends. They'll also discuss the stories behind their books, the ideas that inspire their recipes, and a few spirited hot takes on the season's most beloved dishes.

As the final event in Kitchen Arts & Letters' New York Food Stories summer series, this conversation serves as both a celebration of the city's enduring food culture and a farewell to the season itself. Continue the festivities after the discussion with Morgenstern's ice cream, paletas from La Newyorkina, and hot dogs from Schaller & Weber—a fitting finale to a series that has explored the people, places, and flavors that make New York one of the world's great food cities.

A book signing will follow the conversation.
