While the COVID-19 pandemic lasts, we're not able to get copies of this book from Ecuador. As soon as international travel is safe again, we hope to see a fresh delivery.
In print for nearly thirty years through five editions, this collection of Ecuadorian home recipes is simple, straightforward, and good. Fried, an American ex-pat living in Quito, has gathered and standardized recipes from home cooks and annotated them with details of their use in daily life, seeking to preserve details that were often not written down. The book is in Spanish, but Fried has provided a thirteen-page glossary which translates idiomatic Ecuadorian into English as well as French and German, and five pages in which she provides the botanical names of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. We've stocked this book for decades, proudly and happily.
