If names like El Teddy’s, Central Falls, Florent, and Nosmo King, lead you down memory lane past One Fifth, Yaffa Cafe, Le Cirque, and Jerry’s 103, this collection of ads from some of New York’s quintessential late 20th-century restaurants may restore some of your youth.

Compiled by Nikki Igol, an image archivist who co-founded the remarkable Library 180 collection of magazine and book design, this collection of advertisements which appeared in publications like Interview, Details, and Paper is composed primarily of black-and-white images.

Igol’s introduction connects the evolution of design with the development of the Manhattan dining scene as it expanded to new neighborhoods, new cuisines, and new definitions of what was stylish and good.

Resonant on many levels.

Paperback.  9” x 12”. Black-and-white photographs throughout.
