Part travelogue, part cookbook, Lido explores the culture of Italy’s beach clubs: those seasonal institutions where eating, resting, and socializing unfold at a distinctly unhurried pace. Moving along the country’s coastline, the book captures the rhythms of these idyllic locales, from morning coffee to late afternoon aperitivo. 

The second half gathers more than sixty recipes drawn from the clubs, with a focus on light, sun-driven cooking: bruschetta, seafood dishes, simple pastas, and desserts suited to warm weather. 

Dishes such as marinated summer squash, lobster risotto, and fior di latte-based sweets reflect a cuisine shaped by proximity to the sea and an emphasis on freshness and ease. 

Photographs taken on location anchor the book in place, offering a visual sense of the lido as both culinary and social environment. The result is less a technical manual than a portrait of a way of eating tied closely to landscape, season, and leisure.
