While Entertaining is a magazine devoted to Black food and beverage producers, chefs, home cooks, and food enthusiasts whose stories have been marginalized and misrepresented in mainstream food media.

This issue "draws inspiration from the Harlem Rent Parties of the 1920s. When Black tenants were faced with the threat of eviction, they threw these spirited parties to raise the money they needed for rent... We admire their creative problem solving and their ability to host these joyful gatherings despite the challenges they faced."

Contributors include Thérèse Nelson, curator of blackculinaryhistory.com; Chris Williams, chef/owner of Lucille's in Houston;  Michael and Kwini Reed of Poppy + Rose in Los Angeles; David Benton of Sugarsweet Cookie + Cake Studio in Oakland; and Gabrielle W. Carter, founder of Tall Grass Food Box, a North Carolina CSA.

Handsomely designed, with recipes from each contributor.

Paperback. Color photographs throughout.
