Do you ever see work so lovely and joyful that you immediately know you absolutely must get to know the creator? That is just what happened to us when we first saw local artist Hass Kwame's hand-painted aprons.
Hass says, "These colors make me happy. I want that to happen when people walk in the kitchen: smile! You can't be mad and upset when you're all colors." We couldn't agree more, as we can't stop smiling every time we see this vibrant splash of color hanging in the shop.
We are very excited to announce this collaboration between Hass's Bronx-based Danyaki Studio and Kitchen Arts & Letters.
These are sturdy, 100% cotton, machine-washable (at low temp) aprons meant to endure the wear and tear of the kitchen. They come in one size with generous proportions to fit most adult bodies.
- The adjustable neck strap extends to a length of 26in (68cm) with a 12in (30.5cm) bib neck width.
- The length of the bib from top to bottom through the center is 34in (86.5cm), and the width at the widest part of the waist is 31.75in (80.5cm).
- The side straps, attached with a metal rivet, are each 39in (99.5cm) in length.
The aprons have 4 pockets, two at the waist large enough for a notebook and one each at the left breast and the right hip ideal for thermometers, peelers, Sharpies, and tweezers.
All the aprons are painted with abstract, spontaneous gesture. No two are alike, so when ordering online, please allow us the privilege of selecting a unique design for you. All of them have "KAL NYC" boldly painted on the front for a proud shout-out to your favorite indy bookstore.
