An actor with a long and colorful career as a tough guy (Con Air, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy), Danny Trejo is also the owner of numerous Los Angeles-area restaurants, most famously Trejo's Tacos, with locations in La Brea, Hollywood, and Westside.

This lively collection of recipes captures what Trejo calls the "Mexican-adjacent" mashup of flavors and ingredients that flourishes in Los Angeles. Along with carne asada and barbacoa for fillings, the book offers the likes of chicken tikka, "Mexi-felafel," roasted cauliflower, and black pepper tofu. And along with tacos, there are quesadillas, salads, and even a Mexican-ish risotto.

And yeah, there are recipes from the Danny's Donuts trucks as well.

Trejo makes it clear that the recipes here are adapted from those developed for his restaurants. If you want the Trejo's Tacos flavor, you'll have to make the sauces and marinades they use, and prep the toppings they employ. He's not going to hold it against you if you take shortcuts. But he wants you to be able to get as close to the real thing as possible.
