A faint aura of legend surrounds this book, which has passed through several formats and editions, each one a tribute to the work of one of the most acclaimed French chefs working today.

Yannick Alleno first gained international attention more than twenty years ago when he took over the kitchens at Le Meurice, a luxury hotel near the Louvre in Paris. The restaurant had three Michelin stars within a few years (a status it has maintained under the current leadership of Alain Ducasse).

Alleno became the chef at the nearby Pavillon Ledoyen in 2014. There he has continued to hold his 3-star rating, as well as earning another star for the a sushi bar located inside Pavillon Ledoyen, L'Abysse.

Ma Cuisine Française is Alleno's presentation of what he felt were his definitive culinary creations as of 2014, when the book was originally published. The crisp photography displays intricate, elegantly presented food in the contemporary style, with an astute use of color to heighten visual interest.

This very large-format book (11 x 15 inches) runs 782 pages and contains more than 500 recipes and 1500 photographs. It sports cloth-covered flexibinding, and comes inside a heavy slipcase to help it stay upright on the shelf.

The original edition of the book had an even larger trim size (14 x 20 inches) and weighed more than 35 pounds. Its availability was so brief that we never saw a copy ourselves, though several of our customers who managed to acquire one confirmed those details for us.

An edition released later in 2014 was the same dimensions as the one we offer here. But its life was also very short and we have spent the intervening years searching out copies with rare success,

So we're delighted to find that the book has been republished to so handsomely. We cannot predict how long this edition will remain available, but it's our pleasure to offer it while we can.

Flexibound. Slipcased. Full color photography throughout. In French.
