In the years since it was first published as a mass market paperback in 1969, Princess Pamela’s has become a real collector’s item. It was one of the first books to use the phrase “soul food” and it was a remarkably personal collection, filled with snappy sayings, pithy poems, and simple, hearty fare. It is, of course, featured in Toni Tipton-Martin's The Jemima Code. Matt and Ted Lee, who championed the publication of this edition, provide an introduction that offers a history of Strobel’s East Village restaurants, the first of which was in her apartment, and places the book’s publication in its historical context. It’s great to have reliable access to this classic once again. Line-illustrations. Hardcover.
