OP: Hotel Packard Menu 1938

This item is no longer available.

A dinner menu from Cuba’s Hotel Packard, dated February 4, 1938. Both the food and drink menus are affixed to the colorfully illustrated folder. Guests at the hotel might enjoy cream soup Bretone, “assorted friters [sic]” with tomato sauce or a steak with a “panache” of carrots on the side, and a dessert of rice pudding (room service 25¢extra).

The hotel’s private bar boasts 25¢cocktails and notes that guests are allotted one gallon of rum to take home, duty free. The menu folder itself is branded Cervecería La Tropical—established 1888, once the oldest brewery in Cuba.

The folder bears some wear, soiling, and rust stains from staples or pins used to display it. The interior menus show signs of repeated use. 8.75” x 12”.
