OP: Cherry Bombe Magazine Issues 1-5
Cherry Bombe magazine, launching in 2013, was among a new wave of stylishly produced periodicals that celebrate niche subjects, widening our perspectives on the food and beverage world. Published twice a year, Cherry Bombe’s focus, first and foremost, has always been on women in food, celebrating their contributions and achievements.
Beyond the magazine, co-founders Kerry Diamond and Claudia Wu expanded the brand to include a cookbook, podcasts, and the annual Cherry Bombe Jubilee (where we have been the proud bookselling partners since the beginning). We offer here a taste of the early stages, the spark of something big and lasting, the first five issues of Cherry Bombe magazine, now long out-of-print.
The coverstars of the inaugural issues are: 1) Karlie Kloss, 2) Erin McKenna, 3) Ruth Reichl, 4) Kristen Kish, and 5) Christina Tosi. Standout interviews include:
- Alexa Karolinski who self-published the charming cookbook Oma & Bella (2012)—preserving the recipes of her grandmother and her best friend, both Holocaust survivors
- Dr. Jessica B. Harris who covers food, anthropology, and fashion in a few short pages punctuated by three recipes
- Food science professor Dr. Lisa J. Mauer who discusses the inherent instability of food and the impact of ever-changing environments it passes through
- Chef Amanda Cohen—reflecting on “the myth of the Magical Organic Vegetable from Ye Olde Farmstead”—in conversation with Alex Raij who navigates the challenge of both working with and raising a family with her husband
- Charmaine Bee, founder of Gullah Girl tea company, on her healing journey into herbalism and entrepreneurship
