OP: 7 Botanical Swissair First Class Menus
Seven first class menus with botanical illustrations on the covers, featuring oregano, blackthorn or sloe, danwort, meadowsweet, carline thistle, woodruff, and sanicle, all identified by their Latin names. The menu inside of each is identical.
Drinks include aperitifs and a choice among four wines—the Champagne and Bordeaux being French but the white (Cure d’Attalens) and the red (Pinot Noir du Valais) being Swiss. The meal features filet mignon with morels and vegetable sides: roast potatoes, haricots verts in butter, and salad. For dessert, profiteroles aux noisettes, cheese, and coffee and liqueurs. All far more enticing than any airline meal offered today.
Though undated, the Swissair logo in use puts them in the 1960s–1970s. Very Good condition, overall; some modest soiling and wear. 5.75” x 8.25”.
