This extensive compendium of cocktail recipes presents drinks from Chile and Cuba, China and the Czech Republic, plus 56 other nations, supplemented by notes on possible variations, their era of origin, and their creation stories, which range from crisply factual to fancifully legendary.
In addition to the recipes, handsome photographs for many, but not all, of the drinks will introduce you to Russian Spring Punch (created in London in the 1980s), the Horse’s Neck (originating in pre-Prohibition America), and the Chilcano (created in 1880s Peru and still the subject of a festival week there today). There are non-alcohol drinks scattered through the book as well; these are separately indexed for ease of finding them.
Recipes are arranged into broad categories: refreshing, sours, spirit forward, tiki and tropical, coffee and dessert, and punches.
Hardcover. Color photographs throughout.
