New York caterer Peter Callahan’s events for high-profile clients often have a touch of whimsy about them and in this collection of finger food, small plates, and party cocktails, it is easy to see his playful side. For instance, a passed tray of mini charcuterie boards in which a toast base is cut into the shape of a long-handled cutting board before being piled with slivers of preserved meat and garnished with a cornichon. But there are plenty of easily adaptable ideas along the lines of slices of a savory Stilton cheesecake topped with a bacon-onion marmalade.
