This visual showcase for packaging from chocolate brands around the world offers graphic inspiration for anyone contemplating food package design.

More than 60 designers are represented in two- or four-page spreads which display packaging and very briefly describe its ambitions and inspirations. There are brands from China and Greece, Mexico and Japan, Spain and Indonesia, among other countries.

From riffs on record album covers and egg cartons to steam-punk aesthetics and bold modernist graphics, the packages offer a wealth of ideas for anyone contemplating fresh branding visuals, regardless of cacao content.

Worth noting: for a book on design, this one strangely missteps when it comes to several pages of black text printed in small, slender type on vibrant orange paper. Not really an invitation to read what’s there. But the photographs do most of the lifting in the book anyway.
