Magazine F is a food documentary magazine which focuses on one ingredient per issue. The magazine explores how each ingredient is grown, prepared, and shared in different cultures around the world, through in-depth interviews, inspiring stories, and beautiful photos.
The magazine originates in Korea, where it is published roughly 6 times a year. But as part of its quest to examine the use of foods worldwide, it features information on many locations, traditions, cooks, and producers.
This issue is a look into all things spice, from the sensory to the anthropological. There are multiple features that highlight Marrakech and Morocco more broadly for its role as a historical capital of the spice trade and as a home of saffron production. There is a brief guide to the best spice vendors in the city's souk or central market.
As with other issues, there is also a shopping and dining guide that features both recent upstarts and classics, along with interviews with chefs from New York, Seoul and London. There is an especially interesting feature on both historical and contemporary uses of spices as dyes, medication and in beauty products.
Paperback. Color photographs throughout.
