Published in honor of the 125th anniversary of the East Hampton Ladies Village Improvement Society—which after all these years still fulfills its mission of keeping the town's green looking lush, its roads canopied by trees, and its architecture in becoming style—this is a collection of recipes by Society members as well as other notable local residents and entrepreneurs, past and present.
Among the luminaries, you'll find contributions from Martha Stewart and Ina Garten, Pierre Franey and Craig Claiborne, Eric Ripert and Carla Hall, Ricky & Ralph Lauren and Christie Brinkley. Beloved local establishments such as Loaves and Fishes are here as well. Recipes are arranged seasonally and almost all suggest the pleasures of having some good friends over for a casual get-together when everyday cares are forgotten. Florence Fabricant's wine pairings favor Long Island wines, of course, and scenic and historic photographs help evoke the charmed East Hampton aura.
There have been several previous LVIS cookbooks over the last half century, but to the best of our ability to tell, only about ten longtime favorite recipes have been retained for this edition.
Hardcover. Color photographs throughout.
